Hawker Ball

It was the meeting of cheap hawker-style street-food fancy with high-profile black-tie gala when Asia Society celebrated the launch of its Melbourne office at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Taking traditional Asian graphics we developed an identity in-keeping with a bustling Asian market of South East Asia where flavour is king. In true Boheem style we created a new original line-art illustration of the Asia Society lion-dragon which was accompanied by a small suite of matching graphics, and complementary type. It all felt oh-so-Melbourne.

The event was a hit, and the dumplings were to die for.

The brief was to create an identity that was ‘fun and quirky but still sleek and relatively minimal, ultimately promoting a bustling market space whilst still retaining the aura of a high profile gala dinner’.

“I’d like to extend my appreciation for your efforts, your creative talent and your patience in shaping Hawker Ball. It was a momentous event and it made such a striking impression because of your designs”.
